The gaming week
I did pick up Skyrim for the PC. I've had a couple sessions on it. On the new machine the graphics are set high, very crisp. After playing on the XBox, it is most unusual. Lighting and shadow seem improved. The frame rate must be high, because it seems far more realistic than on the console. Played through Steam, it has proven interesting -- adding achievments to the game. Of course even stereo is different on my desk top. Its just the basic game so far, as I'd have to repurchase the DLC of Hearthfire and Dawngard. Dragonborn isn't out for PC as yet. The worst thing is RELEARNING the controls. Playing with a controller is what I've been used to for this game. Playing with a keyboard really trips your mind sometimes -- I've found myself drawing my weapon by accident a lot. And shouting when I mean to put myself into stealth -- which is not the best thing to have happen.
I keep playing with my Champions roster. I've not bought extra slots, but I do have several characters. With only 1 exception they all seem to be recreations of former City of Heroes characters. The latest is Paramount Girl. With her, I've found an SG called Amazonia, which looks like a multi-game guild growing out of Guild Wars 2 and some other games. Three of these games are NCSoft games which does distrb me. I hope that doesn't become an issue. As far as PG goes, The Behemoth build pretty closly replicates the SuperStrength Invulnerable Brute I used to have, and then some. Power Flight fits her touched by a dimensional tear and transformed origin. Even did a cover for her. Given the strength factor, I'm finding the objects picked up go invisible issue more of a problem with Champions. I remember the old days when you saw the object you threw. It made you feel much more super. The current bug makes it seem like a cheat.
I was able to get Ventrillo working on the new machine. That may mean I get to participate in a podcast. More on that later.
I'm tempted to grab Borderlands2 -- I saw it on Steam for HALF what it has been in the stores. But I've been spending a lot getting everything transferred, upgraded, and/or replaced getting to the new machine. I'm going to have to draw the line somewhere.
