Disclaimer

History: This blog is the third incarnation, and started as a paper RPG & desktop gaming blog.  After starting the MMO City of Heroes days after its launch in 2004,  It developed into one dedicated to that MMO, as it remained for nearly eight years. On November 30, 2012 that MMO was shut down by the company NCSoft despite an outpouring of fan support and community outrage.  Starting In December 2012, I'm going to be opening up the focus of the blog to cover ANYTHING gaming I'm playing, be it PC, XBox 360, iPad, Dragon*Con, etc.

That being said, their will be images from various games posted on this blog.  No claim here is made to the games, and no intent to infringe on any copyrights are inferred.   Copyrights are property of the respective companies.

Holiday blues

Steam has never been something I touched on my old machine.  I'm kind  of thankful for that.   But on my new machine it does fill a void quite well.   The PC offerings of my local Best Buy are next to non-existant.   Fry's is a little further away but doesn't have THAT much more.   Recent releases and old-favorites like WoW are all that are on the shelves.   Pricing is weird -- since some are full and others are down to $20.

But on Steam most things are starting at the low end.  With the discounts for the holiday specials, some things are ridiculously low.  I've gotten several games at  bargin bin $3-$5 prices.   OLD Xbox games like Fallout3 , stuff I overlooked like Witcher 2, call to me with prices 25% - 75% off .   I'll be so glad when this Holiday sale is over and I won't be tempted with stuff like this.

That being said it divides my attention.  I've got the Torchlight II game -- which is a diabloesque game with a slightly steampunk overtowns even though it is fantasy.   I'd played through Torchlight I on the Xbox fair enough.  Skyrim is now up to stuff with both Dawnguard and Hearthfire on the PC version.  I've gotten Morrowind GOTY edition as well.  I find that confusing.   I remember its intro, but still find it so hard to work through its interface.   I keep going back to Skyrim.   Its one of those games that has a magnetic attraction for me.

That being said, there is one thing with my Skyrim setup I've not figured out.   Every so often it goes BACK to the desktop screen.  Skyrim is still running though paused.  Usually I can get back to it, but it is a pain.   And every so often the game crashes when you attempt to get back.  I don't know if it is the game doing it or some other software affecting the game.   I'm probably going to have to scour some forums to find out.
